Elders Corner – Work Heartily, As Unto The Lord
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. ~Colossians 3:23-24
It was my privilege to serve with the many other servants in our congregation to work at this wild and crazy thing we call the Annual Philippines Yard Sale. As was mentioned, it’s an event that could be considered “barely under control chaos”!
The Lord provided over $13,000 through the yard sale and more money is trickling in. We thank Him for His faithfulness and blessings! It’s a sign, I believe, that He is still working through us and wants us to keep sending teams to the Philippines, which is scheduled for October 30 – November 13.
We have a “going team” of ten at this time. Though the funds raised in the sale will not be enough to fully fund the trip, we are trusting the Lord will continue to provide. We now have enough to purchase plane tickets right away.
I want to thank all of you, the “sending team”, for all of your hard work. I have countless memories of many of you who brought food for the workers to eat, donated countless items, and who worked before, during, and after the sale. It exemplified “working heartily, as unto the Lord”, as Paul exhorted in Colossians, without complaint and in with a spirit of cheerfulness.
This provided such a great opportunity to be a witness to the unchurched in our community. One homeless couple was fed and served during the sale. And others in the community contributed items to the sale, which may indicate that those outside our body also believe in this mission.
If the Lord blesses this ministry, as He has in the past, all of you will someday get to meet those who are reached for eternity in heaven. Remember, this is why we have the sale to share the good news with those who have never heard that they can have their sins forgiven and have a real relationship with Jesus Christ. Please pray for them. We are so blessed to take part in the Great Commission.
Thank you again!
