Today is Mercy Day!

September 13th of each year is Mercy Day. But what is Mercy Day? And why is it on September 13th? I'm glad you asked! Mercy Day is the day that Christians celebrate God's mercy. Not just towards us, but towards the whole world. Mercy Day is all about the true meaning of the rainbow. The rainbow LGBTQ+ activists have tried to steal to exalt PRIDE.

This of course makes sense for those rebelling against God. But God is very clear in His word that pride is deadly dangerous and never to be celebrated. In fact, He declares powerfully and succinctly that, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." - Proverbs 16:18. In fact in love He commands us to "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you," - 1 Peter 5:6 If we would be exalted for eternity, we must humble ourselves before God in repentance, faith, and obedience. When we do this fully trusting in Him, God not only exalts us one day in eternity but uplifts our spirits here, no matter the circumstances we face.

So, we know the rainbow doesn't stand for PRIDE. It in fact is just the opposite. It stands for mercy. It is the sign of God's covenant promise to all the earth that He will never destroy all life again by a worldwide flood. Even though we as humanity are still so rebellious and sinful from our youth(Gen. 9:21). God has granted us great mercy. In fact, every day we wake up we receive mercy. They are new every morning(Lam. 3:23)!

Here is the key verse for this covenant promise God made to the earth.

"I put My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth." Genesis 9:13

And the scriptural chapter and verse are the reason for choosing September 13th. 9/13. You may be wondering who thought this up and how long has it been around. Well, the genesis(no pun intended), of the day was thought up by Apologist Sye Ten Bruggencate. Below is a link to the Christian News article where you can read the story and see the YouTube video Sye made for this back in 2015. The first official Mercy Day was celebrated September 13th 2016.

Sadly, due to a lack of exposure and little interest, likely due to fear of man and an unwillingness to be seen standing positively for the God honoring true meaning of the rainbow that is the exact opposite of the rebellious and sinful LGBTQ+ perverse PRIDE flag, few Christians have celebrated this beautiful day. Let's change that, Christians! Let's stand for righteousness and truth to the glory of God!

For the second year, Wellspring Bible Fellowship invites any Christian who would like to join us to meet us on the Douglas County Courthouse steps in Roseburg, Oregon today at 6:30pm for a time of worship, teaching, and prayer. Celebrating and thanking God for saving not just from physical death, but sin, death, and hell for eternity!

He saved us and He has a can save anyone currently living in rebellion, even those engaged in LGBTQ+ sexual perversion. He is loving, kind, and indeed a merciful Savior! Call out to Him today in repentance and faith and God by His grace will mercifully save all who come to Him. God bless all who do!
